Russian folk choreography: an excursion into the field of the history of genres

The article reveals the historically established reasons for the formation of genres, various forms and types of Russian folk choreography, analyzes the main research on this topic, and identifies the terminology of Russian traditional and folk stage choreography. V. N. Nilov places the emphasis on the classification of Russian folk art, its relevance is substantiated. The article contains an excursus of the development of Russian folk stage choreography in the XX century. Russian Russian traditional choreography (folklore) and folk stage choreography are identified in it, their purpose in the sphere of Russian folk choreographic art and their functions are noted. The author has indicated the high importance of preserving each of the types, reviving and transmitting both the heritage of folk stage choreography and monuments of Russian traditional choreography (folklore) in the education and upbringing of future generations.
