Poleaxes and small axes from Siberian museums are considered in this entry. These long-hafted axes with crescent- and trapezium-shaped blade entered into the complex of Russian warrior' armaments in Siberia in the XVII century. On the grounds of the complex analysis of material, graphic and written sources the author concludes that the role of poleaxes in the complex of armaments of Russian warriors in the Siberia was lower than in the European part of the country. It was conditioned by the peculiarities of the supply system and by the specific character of the military and political situation in the region. Poleaxes and small axes were mostly claimed during the defense of fortresses and stockade towns, as well as in the course of skirmishes against the infantry of taiga tribes of Siberia. Poleaxes were not efficient enough against the armour-clad cavalry of Oyrats, Yenisei Kyrgyzs and Mongolians.
