Russian radical nationalism and modern Ukrainian political crisis: assessments and development prospects

The main purpose of this article is to study the changes in the theoretical and practical activities of Russian radical nationalists that occurred in the Russian national patriotic movement in connection with the events of the political crisis in Ukraine. The objectives of the research are to elucidate the changing nature of the ideological aspect as well as the tactics and strategy of Russian nationalists in the transformed environment, find the ways of modernizing their political attitudes and the possibility of political maneuvering both inside and outside Russia. The reasons of such radical nationalist alterations are examined; the new features in the ideology and practice of Russian nationalists are described. The author attempts to define a new geography of power represented by the most active nationalist organizations and their main associations currently operating in this country. It is concluded that there is an uneasy but unique historic situation for Russian nationalists, which arose in the Russian Federation for the first time in the post-Soviet period.
