The influence of fisheries on the state of Onega Lake fish community is considered based on the analysis of commercial catches for the last 70 years. A drastic decrease in catches of salmonid and coregonid fish species is observed. The catches of vendance, smelt, burbot, and zander are subject to considerable fluctuations, while cyprinids’ and perches’ supply is underused. The solution of the essential part of the fish industry problems is closely associated with the legal and regulatory framework development.
