Microfinance organizations are full-fledged entities of the financial market that perform the function of lending to the population, individual entrepreneurs and small companies. Microfinance services are usually used by those who cannot officially confirm their income in banking institutions, who have no credit history or it is “bad” due to the delay in previously issued loans. The article analyzes statistical data of the Bank of Russia on the activities of microfinance organizations: the number of active and exited organizations, the level of overdue and debt burden. The problems characteristic of one of the segments of the financial market of the Russian Federation - the microfinance market - are identified and summarized: high interest rates, dependence of individuals on loans, the use of negative practices and low trust in microorganisms. The main directions of development of the microfinance organization market for 2025-2027 are considered, which are presented for discussion by the Bank of Russia: changing the structure of market segmentation - distribution of microfinance organizations those that will lend to the business sector, others will carry out targeted financing and others will have the status of MFCs. In this regard, it is proposed to abolish the distinction between microfinance organizations and microcredit and microfinance companies.
