Saiga in Orenburg countru: history, legends and prospects of the return

The history of the Saiga tatarica saiga in Orenburgskaya oblast and adjacent territories of Kazakhstan is examined in relation to the developing of these territories on the grounds of historical information, information from literature sources and our observational data. Saiga is considered to be a title (constituting) biological object of steppes. The seasonal inhabiting of saiga in the dry steppe subzone, also within Orenburgskaya oblast, is considered to be one of the main tasks of saiga reconstruction.
