Improvised incendiary devices as an object of forensic research

Introduction. The article is devoted to the forensic study of improvised incendiary devices (IEDs), which are specially created technical devices designed for the deliberate initiation of gorenje during arson. Materials and methods: the study of operationally significant information during the inspection of the scene of the incident (WMD), with the help of which the process of disclosure of a committed crime is significantly accelerated in order to obtain evidentiary information during the conduct of forensic examinations. The results of the study: The main features that make it possible to classify the product under study to the category of improvised incendiary devices are considered, the correct concept of SDU is developed, which allows to solve the issue of assigning any object to objects of this category in a complex. The authors, having generalized and systematized the information available in the domestic criminal literature on various types of SSU, distinguish the following main components of such devices: - an incendiary substance (SV); - an ignition device (UV); - a means of initiation (SI); - housing; - the executive mechanism. Findings and Conclusions: It is advisable to concretize the concept of an incendiary device through the signs and criteria considered in the article, which allow us to solve the issue of assigning an object to the category of an incendiary device in a complex: «An improvised incendiary device (SZ) is a single-action product specially prepared for ignition, capable of causing damage and containing an incendiary substance and a means of activating the device, in which at least one of the elements is made by a homemade method or its non-industrial unregulated assembly is installed.»
