The study of subjectively experienced communication difficulties is extremely relevant, since communication plays an important role in people’s everyday lives, in professional activities, education and interpersonal relationships. Our study was conducted using the “Speech Barriers in Communication” technique (Panfilova A.P.). The sample consisted of 27 students of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Petrozavodsk State University" (56% girls). The results of the study showed that medium and low levels of speech development prevail among students to a greater extent; also, boys rate their communication skills higher than women.
