Self-regulation of cadastral activities

The article discusses the problematic issues of the application of self-regulation in relation to the activities of cadastral engineers. The relevant legislation, law enforcement practice and scientific literature are analyzed. Based on the general characteristics of self-regulation, the author concludes that it is an ineffective alternative to government regulation, including licensing, and the need to replace the mandatory membership of cadastral engineers in a self-regulating organization with risk-oriented government regulation of cadastral activities.
