The paper is concerned with changes in number among the population of the towns of the Russian Far East caused by sanitary conditions in them (water supply, recovery of wastes, medical assistance, etc.) An attempt has been made to justify the assumption that the comfortability of the towns conditioned the formation of stationary population there.
