Sanctions geopolitics as a manifestation of opportunism

The international division of production at the same time formed objective prerequisites for deepening international production cooperation and the formation of international integration associations. This contributed to the growth of production efficiency both in individual national economies and in the world economic system as a whole. This phenomenon can be simultaneously considered in the concept of the growth of the globalization process, the liberalization of the world market, which in the theory of political liberalism assumed the existence of economic, political freedom, access to the world’s material, labor, financial resources and their free movement within the boundaries of a single world economy. The consequence of these processes of globalization was the partial loss of the sovereignty of countries, the dominance of supranational norms for regulating the economy and social relations. Within the framework of a single emerging economic space, the dominant players were able to extract a large share of the income in the distribution of the world product. At the same time, economic sanctions began to be applied to other members of the economic community, for example, WTO members, as instruments of domination. The sanctions policy can be seen as a tool for the opportunistic behavior of dominant players, which allows the latter to receive additional opportunistic income. It is concluded that the policy of sanctions at the same time not only violates the fundamental principles of equitable world trade, but also exacerbates the contradictions within the world economic system.
