The satirical devices of deglorification in the novel the Damned and the deadby V. P. Astafiev

This article discusses the satirical devices, which allow the author to deglorify, in other words, to deprive the words, actions and behavior of senior executives, political workers, and the army in general of the social significance. It also analyzes the deformation of such concepts as heroism, courage, wisdom, that becomes the basis for the emergence of the theme-motive of false patriotism in the novel. This theme-motive is one of the ways to express the author’ s bias, which acquires the character of a direct satirical commination.
