Whether the prophecy made by N. Gogol concerning Russian people progress will come true in the early XXI century?

In 1835 N. Gogol made a suggestion that “А. Pushkin is a human being in a state of development, to which a Russian person may come in two hundred years". So that one could estimate the possibility of N. Gogol’s prophecy fulfillment, the article examines the modern state of the Russian nature, Russian spirit, Russian language and Russian character against the historical background. The author comes to the conclusion that the time of prophecy realization is extended.
