The aim of the given article is to substantiate the origin of the grammatical restrictions of English verbal idioms and show cognitive reasons for those peculiarities. The grammatical restrains of the phraseological units are caused by a particular scenario. Due to their inner form idioms reveal the dependence on the scenario for the basic grammatical functions.
