State central theater museum named after A.A. Bakhrushin keeps a collection of set designs and graphic lists of the scenic artist Vladimir V. Popov (1907–1970). The artist has a very interesting destiny. He was born in Kaluga, studied at Moscow and worked in the different theatres of our country – in Kaluga, Samara, Novosibirsk, Tula, Grodno, Ashkhabad, etc. But the most important region for the biography of Popov was Russian Far East. After serving in the Army here, he stayed in this region as the main artist of the Red Army’s House at the Razdolnaya station (about 80 km away from Vladivostok). In 1950 Popov became the main artist of the Soviet Army’s Theatre in Iuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
