Coronation of Elizabeth Tudor has a complex symbolic content. The consideration of this issue expounds the significance of coronation orders of the second half of the 16th and early 17th centuries. The religious conflict in that period touched on ceremonial scheme that led to the revision of certain rituals. The coronation of Elizabeth I was full of secular elements. The renowned ceremony improved the classical tripartite structure, i.e. anointing, investiture and feudal oath. The different parts of the coronation consisted of the choral heritage and elements of the coronation mass. Elizabeth’s coronation imprinted on the Stuarts’ coronation ceremonies. Therefore, the ceremony under study can be reviewed as a political ritual.
