Sexuality in context of modern popular music

The current article presents the results of the analysis of theoretical and empirical sociological researches on the problem of sexuality in the context of contemporary popular music. In this paper, we consider the ideas about sexuality, which are generated by incorporating elements of intimacy, eroticism, corporality and psychoemotional sensuality into musical compositions, video clips and the overall image of performers. There is a brief description of the processes of world music industry transformation during the past 50 years and how they reflected on the actual content of music products. Also, we present the results of the analysis of three music videos contents (Meghan Trainor - “All About That Bass”, PSY -”Gangnam Style” and Leningrad - “Exhibit”), as well as the results of focus group study, mainly aimed at video clips narratives and their interpretation. one considers various ways of including sexuality as a component of commercially successful musical products among various national cultures (USA, South Korea, Russia).
