Breeding for winter hardiness and productivity of winter barley in the Samara Agricultural Research Institute

A comparison of yield of winter barley with spring barley in the period from 2005 to 2017. Determined that the main factor influencing the winter hardiness is the minimum temperature at the depth of tillering node. Selected varieties of winter barley Zhiguli, Sadko, Samson, Rostovskiy 55, Volzhskiy pervyy characterized by high level of hardiness in the conditions of Middle Volga region. Created promising breeding material with high levels of winter hardiness and productivity.
