Selection of rows as a decorative culture in Russia and in European countries

The study presents the materials of our own research on the mountain ash culture in the northern conditions of the European part of Russia and the synthesis of the research on mountain ash selection for decorativeness in foreign countries. It is shown that the ongoing work on interspecific hybridization in European countries shows good results in obtaining a large number of decorative forms and interspecific hybrids with attractive shapes and color of fruits for using in landscapedesign. For decorative purposes wild-growing species of mountain ash and varieties obtained from these species are used. The varieties of ornamental mountain ash obtained both in Russia and in Europe, are derived from mountain ash, Thuringian, Aria, Broad-leaved. Particular success in decorative qualities of mountain ash selection was achieved in a number of European countries: Holland, Britain, Germany, France and Denmark.
