Breeding value of source material of vegetable beans (Vicia faba L.) in the conditions of southern forest-steppe of Western Siberia

The tendency of expansion of the range of crops cultivation is important for crop farming. Modern agricultural production is impossible without cultivation of grain legumes which are cheap sources of vegetable protein for food and fodder production and one of the most important environmetal-forming links on which the balance of organic substance in the soil depends. As a result of studying and complex assessment based on the economic characters of a bean samples collection under the conditions of southern forest-steppe of Western Siberia we chose some sources due to a complex of economic characters on early ripeness: in the middle early group (83-90 days) - 20 samples; in the middle duration group (90-110 days) - 2 samples; with the short interphase period of blossoming - technical ripeness; by the quantity of beans from a plant in the middle duration group varied from 6 to 28 items, in the middle early group - from 3 to 55 items; by quantity of seeds from a plant the sample of Russian Black was specific - 29 items; on the mass of 1000 seeds from a plant the best result showed Belarusian bean sample - 447.3 g; the mass of seeds from a plant was the best one in both Belarusian bean sample - 37.2 g and Russian Black bean sample - 37.5 g. A reliable correlation between the economic characters determining productivity of the crop samples has been revealed. It has been revealed also that the productivity of beans has a high correlation with the mass of beans from a plant (r = 0.8 ± 0.01); and character of the quantity of seeds from a plant; mass of 1000 seeds and the average quantity of beans from a plant (r = 0.5 ± 0.02 and r = 0.4 ± 0.02). On the basis of the analysis results we may recommend the following samples for selection process as the sources of productivity elements complex: Belarusian, Russian Black, Velena, Dreifach Weibe, Hangdown Grunkernig, Alfred and Merkur.
