The author of this article has investigated of the Volga-Ural region flora for 60 years. There are 179 species of the Poaceae family from 61 genera growth on this territory. Festuca wolgensis P. Smirnov and Koeleria sclerophylla P. Smirn. has locus classicus in Zhiguli Mountain; 16 species – are rare, and 19 species are needing protection (according to The Red Book of the Samara region).
