The article, based on sources and archival documents, including previously unpublished ones, describes a little-studied period in the biography of the Soviet Union Marshal A. M. Vasilevsky (1909–1915). The relevance of the article, from the point of view of pedagogy, is seen in great educational significance of the marshal’s biography for younger generation of seminarians, as well as in patriotic aspect. The novelty of the study is justified by the previously unknown data about the biography of the military leader. The future marshal studied at the Kostroma Theological Seminary. The article tells about his difficult student path, passing his final exams early and being ordained to the church degree of reader. In his last year, he decides to devote his future destiny to military service. This article presents material for the second edition of the book “Marshal A. M. Vasilevsky: from seminarian to marshal.”
