Family with children in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): concerning the financial situation

The study discusses a number of issues related to the status of the family at present. There has been a significant income gap in families in the context of the market economy; families with minor children are the most vulnerable in this regard. The author assumes that the material well-being, the decent standard of living and a good quality of life of the family are the basis for the development of children, their successful socialization and human potential in general. Based on the analysis of the All-Russian Population Census, the statistical information and several sociological research results, the economic status of families in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is determined. The research reveals that the financial situation of families depends on various factors such as the place of residence, the type and structure of the family. Besides, the paper identifies the differentiated nature of the material well-being of urban and rural families with children in Yakutia.
