Separatism in modern Russia: relevance and classification

The article deals with the bases for assessment of relevance of the contemporary Russian separatism and supplementation of the comprehensive classification of this phenomenon. The authors claim that the main factor favouring realization of separatist sentiments in Russia is weakening of the state as a core. Weakness of the civil society in Russia creates additional opportunities for distribution of separatist sentiments. The typology of separatism should be supplemented with due regard to the modern realities of developing information society with such types as virtual and real separatism according to the communication mode.
