The features of the ivory coast armed conflict in the context of international humanitarian law

The article deals with the conflict in Côte d'Ivoire in the context of the international humanitarian law. Based on the analysis of the records of Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols, the author defines the concept of "international humanitarian law", considers the content of the principles of this branch of law. It is concluded that during the armed conflict in Côte d'Ivoire in 2011 all norms of international conventions and agreements had been violated. The paper discusses possible participation of the UN peacekeeping force in the process of overthrowing the legitimate government of the state.
