Serotonergic system in pathogenesis and therapy of depressive disorders (review)

Depressive disorders are psychiatric disorders that have multifactorial etiology and develop with the participation of interrelated disturbances of neurochemical systems, including dysregulation of serotonergic system. This review describes the data of foreign and Russian literature on studies of the factors that determine a personal predisposition to depression and function of serotonin system in neurochemistry of affective disorders.
