The Caucasus War ended with failure of the national liberation struggle. The foundation of the Vladikavkaz fortress was laid; later it became an outpost of the Russian conquests in the Northern Caucasus. From the fortress of Vladikavkaz to the Georgian frontier, in the valley of the Terek River and further to the North, West and East, the Ingush settlements were located, which were diminished to the lowest notch eventually.
