The article is devoted to the analysis of basic indices of population of the Republic of Mordovia life quality in comparison with the other regions of the Volga Federal District. A positive tendency in their increase is shown but its low level in comparison to the other regions is underlined. Calculation of the human potential development index of Mordovia for 2010 is presented.
