Vein-type spherolites in limestone of the Torgashino deposit – a new type of calcite onyxes

Бесплатный доступ

The article describes calcite onyxes of the vein type found in the limestone of the Torgashino deposit (the southern skirt of Krasnoyarsk), intersected by pits down to the depth of 200 m. A new variety of onyx – vein-type carbonate spherolites – is discovered. The spherolites of 6–12 cm in size have an onyx pattern and zonal structure. There is a calcite or limestone crystal fragment in their center. It is surrounded by a zone of concentrically banded argillaceous onyx up to 3 cm in diameter. The spherolites have a banded aggregate of radial-columnar calcite crystals from outside. A single mechanism of growth of regular and spherolite onyxes is shown
