Thyroid and its diseases

Thyroid hormones provide the basic metabolism in the body and affect the functioning of the brain, heart, muscles and other organs. If there is too much thyroid hormone, then TSH decreases, while if there is too little thyroid hormone, then TSH increases to stimulate the release of more thyroid hormone. In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland secretes too little of the hormone, which slows down the body's metabolism. In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland secretes too much of the hormone, which speeds up the body's metabolism.
