Symbols in Russia identity politics

This article analyzes the process of prestige construction in post-Soviet Russia. Particular attention is paid to the broadcasting notions of a common origin and political destiny, symbols and achievements. Presidential Addresses to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and transcripts of the meetings of the State Duma, discussions on the draft laws on state symbols held in 1998 and 2000 were analyzed.
