The term orthostatic hypotension (OG) is considered to mean a steady decrease in systolic blood pressure by ≥20 mm Hg. and / or diastolic blood pressure of ≥10 mmHg within 3 min after transition to a vertical position (standing position) from a prone position. OG is an independent predictor of death from all causes and adverse cardiovascular events, and its prevalence varies depending on the age of the patients and the presence of a number of concomitant diseases. For the rational treatment of exhaustive hypertension, it is necessary to identify patients at risk of developing hypertension and to conduct the correct diagnostic measures to verify the diagnosis and establish the cause of hemodynamic disturbances in orthostasis.
