The Syrian crisis: problems and prospects of settlement

The article deals with the Syrian crisis as a global issue of our time. The author analyses the geopolitical importance of Syria for the world community. The author considers the UN's attempts to settle the Syrian crisis, analyses the positions of the United States and the European Union on this issue. Special attention is paid to the Russia's interest in solving the Syrian problem and the attempts of its peaceful settlement. It is concluded that now it is the best time to resolve the Syrian issue, since almost all the parties are willing to do it as soon as possible.
