System of values in a society: structural analysis

The concept of “value” is one of the most used not only in modern social philosophy, in the field of humanitarian knowledge, but also in political journalism. Describing a particular culture, era, social community, they talk about their inherent values. All this is not by chance. Values ​​are the essential basis of a person’s attitude both to nature and to society, since they determine the goal-setting and the choice of ways of working to achieve the set goal, the direction of social activity. “Man is a creature of value ...” wrote N. A. Berdyaev. “The definition of values ​​and the establishment of their hierarchy is ... a function of consciousness” *. And although the question of the nature of values ​​has been raised repeatedly in the domestic scientific literature, the approval of the priority of social values ​​is now extremely important for rethinking priorities in socio-economic policy, optimizing the direction of social reform.
