Systemic lupus erythematosus in men: description of a clinical case

This article provides literature data on the characteristics of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in male patients, a clinical case of SLE in a man observed at the Primorsky Regional Clinical Hospital № 1. This clinical case demonstrates late diagnosis of SLE due to the onset of the disease without typical manifestations in the musculoskeletal system, skin, kidneys and blood vessels. Many studies demonstrate confirmation of a more malignant course of SLE in men than in women. Our observations also allow us to conclude that "male" SLE is a separate type of disease with atypical options for onset and course.
