Scythian wooden cases caskets for storage of needlework instruments

An ancient form of handweaving is the products weaved out of vegetable fibers and wool on small planks. A wooden unique sets of items and crafts boxes for instruments from V-IV centuries BC Steppe Scythia female burials is a clear indicator of the woodworking industry development level in ancient Greece and far beyond. Founded in the 30’s of last century needlework sets were subjected to interdisciplinary research Ukrainian and Russian specialists from different scientific fields for the first time. Particular line was shown to the casket with objects for handweaving on small planks found in burial from Bulgakovo village. Unique wooden materials of good safety allowed carrying out their detailed technical and technological analysis. Forms and parameters of artifacts have been studied. The traceology of woodworking tools traces edgesis have been investigated. On the basis of the obtained data stages of production cycle of carpenter’s craft on production of cases caskets are allocated, the main transactions and the tool kit necessary for handling of a tree and production of objects of weaving are determined.
