The study attempts to review the “Dictionary of the Yakut language”, compiled by E.K. Pekarsky with the close participation of Archpriest D.D. Popov and V.M. Ionov during 1899-1930, as a source of historical and lexicographic research. In the course of the work, the social nature of the dictionary under consideration as a historical phenomenon is revealed. In this perspective, the direct reflection of historical reality by him is determined. As a result of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that in addition to the actual linguistic research, the object of which is the Yakut language, the “Dictionary of the Yakut language” by E.K. Pekarsky is highly significant in the study of the historical context. Thus, the dictionary is not only a lexicographic monument, but also a massive information resource and scientific source.
