Challenges in sidetrack well drilling

The article examines key technological challenges encountered during sidetrack well drilling. It analyzes geomechanical, technical and operational problems including wellbore stability issues, trajectory control difficulties and selective zone access. Special focus is given to modern solutions utilizing advanced directional drilling technologies, telemetry systems and innovative drilling fluids. Practical case studies from Russian and international oilfield operations are presented, along with promising development trends in multilateral well construction.
