The Media was rightly adopted as one of the key strategies for raising public awareness. The media's positive role in educating the public about risks for suicide and shaping attitudes about suicide is emphasized. Mass media guidelines are presented for the reporting of suicide stories, which may minimize the risk of imitative suicides and should refocus on particular story components are useful for preventive programming and suggest the need for sustained dialogue and collaboration with the media about the responsible reporting of suicide.
