The article is devoted to philosophical comprehension of the meaning of human life in modern society. The problem of the meaning of life was relevant at all times, but today it has acquired a special dimension, which is characteristic of the consumer society. Modern people are immersed in an "existential vacuum", in which the crisis of the meaning of life in a society, where material needs prevail over spiritual ones, is revealed. Social conditions that are necessary for reorientation of the consumption society into spiritual values are analyzed. It is concluded that the emergence of higher human needs, including the need for self-actualization, makes life meaningful. The main factor in the development of the system of personal needs is the formation of an individual's creative attitude towards social reality and his participation in social creativity.
