The definition of “meaning of life” as a specific human activity in the works of Russian and European religious philosophers in terms of collective and individual irrationality is studied. The analysis of considering this concept in religious, atheistic, Marxist and irrational philosophical aspects is carried out. The contradiction of conceptions about the meaning of life is examined. It concerns not only the interpretation of the concept of “meaning”, but also the concept of “life”.
