The article analyzes the work of writer and journalist of the Soviet era, the master of “symbolization” of a fact of life and personal life and events, Boris Gorbatov “Letters to a friend. About the life and death”. Also here the authors clarify the phenomenon of multi-dimensional character.They explain how the principle of multi-valued symbol is implemented at all levels of the text. It is shown by what means the author achieves maximum “compression” substantial plan for the character. It is proved that symbolization is a structure-forming component of the work.
