Proper nouns in French associative dictionary

The article offers an analysis of specific classes of proper nouns (toponyms and personal names) presented as reactions in an associative experiment used for creation of a French associative dictionary. Special attention is given to the semantic connection between the prompt and the reaction because it may cause difficulties in interpretation of dictionary material. The author takes into account the conditions of the experiment (time, audience), certain cultural precedent phenomena, as well as wordplay.
