Social infrastructure as a potential for rural development: from the past to the present

The article presents the social infrastructure main elements dynamics in the Jewish Autonomous region – from the moment of its offi cial foundation to 2018. The author shows the dynamics of educational, health, cultural, and service objects, which is based on archival and statistical data. It is determined that the maximum quantitative indicators of the studied elements were observed in the seventies of the last century. The socio-economic crises of the end of the last century and the beginning of the present one have had a negative impact on the social infrastructure. Currently, the level of social regional infrastructure shows negative trends in certain indicators, which is due, among other things, to a decrease in the population. The study confi rms the correlation between the decline in population and social infrastructure facilities.
