The article is devoted to the study of the role of social efficiency of small and medium-sized businesses in the transforming Russian society. The conducted research confirms that personal values and beliefs play a key role in motivating entrepreneurs to achieve social efficiency, and government incentives have a limited impact. The assessments and perceptions of different stakeholder groups regarding the role of the state and other aspects related to improving the social efficiency of business vary significantly. The reputation of a business depends on many factors, and social effectiveness is only one of them. Further research may be aimed at studying the impact of social efficiency of a business on various areas of its activity, such as attracting investments, partnerships, etc., as well as the effectiveness of specific social initiatives and their impact on the reputation of the business.
