Social memory of the young people in contemporary Russia

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of the social memory of young people in modern Russia. The author analyzes the collective memory in philosophical and sociological discourse and considers the concept of social memory as a system of significant information. According to the article collective knowledge and experience are the mediums of social information that constitute the formal structure of memory. The author also draws attention to the problem of young generation. Basing on the theory of H. Shuman and J. Scott the author examines the particular features of the social memory of the Russian youth. The empirical material obtained by the sociological research in historical memory is taken to carry out the analysis of the social memory of young people in modern Russia.
