The research examines the little-studied issues of Russia’s history related to the everyday life of the population on the home front during World War II. The study analyzes and summarizes the historical development of the social sphere in Yakutia in 1941-1945, outlines the living conditions and everyday life of its people, and identifies the scope and size of social assistance. The authors revealed that in the severe military situation, the state allocated funds for the assistance to the most vulnerable groups such as families of front-line soldiers, disabled soldiers, and children. Particular measures were taken to strengthen the healthcare system and improve the difficult food situation in the Yakut Republic. The authors concluded that the assistance provided to the population was insufficient to prevent thousands of people from dying from famine and exhaustion. The population of Yakutia and the Soviet Union as a whole reached the pre-war level until late 1954 and early 1955 that was ten years after the end of the Great Patriotic War. The number of rural people in the Yakut ASSR was restored only by 1967-1968.
