Socio-demographic characteristics of persons committed shoplifting (based on materials from St. Petersburg)

Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of socio-demographic characteristics of persons committing shoplifting ("shoplifters") in St. Petersburg taking into account the administrative division of the city. The sex of the shoplifter was examined. Criminally active social groups and areas of increased criminal activity are identified. The data obtained allow law enforcement agencies, internal security services of retail chains, security and related structures to focus on this category of people in these areas of the city when preparing and conducting preventive measures. Materials and Methods: the materials of the research are statistical data of the Information Center of the State Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region on registered crimes under Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
