The article deals with the development of traditional Chinese art in the context of socio-cultural transformations, which significantly influenced the development of creative processes in China during the Qing Dynasty. A separate interest is aimed at understanding the specifics of the development of landscape painting. The author focuses on the periods of prosperity and decline of the empire during the Manchu imperial dynasty, which ruled China in 1636-1912 after the liquidation of the Ming dynasty founded by the Aisin Hero family. The article also emphasizes that during the reign of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu conquerors adopted Chinese culture, although they retained some elements of their nomadic culture. The decline of Qing began in the XIX century and was accompanied by external intervention of Western states, Han uprisings in the center and in the south of the country, as well as defeats in various wars. The researcher states that, having no strength to withstand pressure from outside and from within, the Qing Dynasty was overthrown as a result of the Xinhai Revolution on February 12, 1912.
