Socioeconomic determinants of crime in the North Caucasus

In the article the author examines the basic social and economic reasons for the criminalization of the situation in the North Caucasus. It is emphasized that the most important factors in the spread of crime in the North Caucasus are the low level of regional economic development and population welfare, high corruption, very large proportion of the shadow economy, high unemployment rate among population and youth against the background of demographic growth.
